Not Losing Weight Even Though You’re Doing this Diet Right?

As you know, if you’ve been following me for a while, my late wife, Sheila, suffered from mental illness. She was on several medications that caused a tremendous weight gain in her final years.

Sheila was determined to lose the weight and exercised and starved herself but could never lose more than a couple pounds at a time.

Since I’ve started this page and put my videos up on Youtube, I’ve met many of you who have followed this diet correctly and experienced dramatic improvements in your physical and mental health, but you ARE NOT LOSING WEIGHT.

Most of you have commented that even though you haven’t lost weight or lost very little, you will stay on the diet because you feel better, both physically and mentally, but it’s frustrating to know the answer to why most people get fat and then correct your diet and still not LOSE WEIGHT.

If you’re not cheating, then the problem might be your medications.

There are MANY meds that mess with your blood sugar and increase insulin resistance. That’s right, too many carbohydrates do this, but so do a lot of common drugs.

This is an important point to make, so I want to repeat it.
Some medications actually make you MORE insulin resistant.

You are cutting your carbohydrates and feeling better in every way on one hand, but on the other hand the medicine you have to take is working against your weight loss.

Instead of beating yourself up as a failure, this article is designed to inform you and empower you to ask your doctor some questions about possible alternative treatments or medicines.

(BTW – DO NOT STOP your medication without a consulting a Doctor. )

The following list is a grouping of drugs around an medical issue, the wonderful thing about this diet is it seems to help in most of these areas.


Drugs that are known to cause weight gain, and/or insulin resistance, and/or high blood sugar.

Antihistamines like Benadryl – I haven’t had a bad cold or allergies since I started this diet, and I’ve heard this same report from many people.

Psyche/Depression/Anti-Convulsive Meds like Zyprexa, Depakote, Clozapine, Seroquel, Risperdal, Lithium, Paxil – I’ve heard many amazing stories from people who have completely freed themselves from many signs of depression, anxiety and mania.

Beta-Blockers for High Blood Pressure – this diet is a wonderful treatment for high blood pressure

Steroids like Prednisone – I won’t comment on this one because I don’t know much about it. But many of you do know about this one, because your illness requires you to take steroids in order to live.

Diabetes medicine like Insulin itself – If you’re Type 1, you have no choice, but I’ve met many Type 2 people online who have completely gotten off insulin by changing their diet.

Most diets cause you to use “will power” to eat less, but this doesn’t work for long for most people. The LCHF (low carb/high fat) diet turns off the “out of control hunger urges” that you’ve struggled with all your life and gives you control, gives you freedom without using “will power”. This will enable to do what is called “intermittent fasting”.

    Bob, I have read this post with great interest, as I have been wondering if my meds are making it impossible for me to lose weight. I have to schedule a medical appointment soon, and will be having that discussion with my doctor. I feel better eating this way (I am definitely a carb addict) and will stick with it, no matter what, but the scale will only go so far, then stops. As you said, very frustrating.

    My husband is losing weight on this diet. I am not. Please advise me of the ratio’s or percent of each. (Fat, Protein, Carbs) I love the diet, and so does my husband; but, he is constipated and I’m not losing weight. Help!

      You really make it seem so easy along with your presentation however I to find this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very wide for me. I’m having a look forward for your next submit, I¡¦ll attempt to get the dangle of it!

    I have to thank you for your video, butter makes your pants fall off, because that convinced my husband to go keto with me. I did it for an auto-immune disorder and to lose weight, his was for arthritis and weight loss. We’re both losing steadily, and both feeling so much better.
