That 5,000 member number (Nov 2014) has grown to over 7,000 members now (July 2015).
Even though I do not have diabetes, I was so impressed that I joined immediately. From that time to this, I always send every Type 1 and Type 2 diabetic that visits my page to “Reversing Diabetes”, because I know that group is a place they are going to meet thousands of knowledgeable people who can help them tweak the LCHF lifestyle to their special T1 or T2 Diabetes situation.
I invited Sandy to do a little guest post to introduce herself to my friends and tell them about her work.

Hello, I’m Sandy Bahr and I’m happy Bob asked me to do this guess post on his website.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Dec 2009 with blood sugars from the 180’s to the 220’s (10 – 12.3 mmol) and an A1c of 8.6. It was certainly not unexpected, given my family history and my gestational diabetes during my pregnancies.
When I went to my first diabetes education class I was the only newly diagnosed diabetic there who was not on medication yet (thanks to a doctor who believed in me!). That was my last diabetes education class. The idea of eating corn flakes and sugar laden low fat yogurt just struck me as WRONG! It has been a journey and a lot of trial and error!
Low Carb and Grain Free not good enough
I went pretty much grain free and low carb in 2011 but I still couldn’t get my morning blood sugar down and after meal blood sugar was 130-140. This was not acceptable to me as I remembered reading in Reversing Diabetes group in early 2010 because I felt that Diabetic people had very few advocates and that the medical treatment of diabetes was going in the wrong direction. I was personally frustrated by the advice that I was being given. It didn’t make sense to me to eat 45 grams of carbs a meal.
I wanted to give people an alternative to the mainstream treatment advice.
Low Carb Low Fat at First
In the beginning year of the group I focused on eating low carb and low fat. The group began to evolve as I did. I moved to the higher fat Atkins diet in 2011 but at 45 grams of carbs a day and a lot of protein I was still struggling with fasting blood sugar in the 120’s and post meal blood sugars around 135. Having read Dr. Richard Bernstein’s “Blood Sugar 101” website I knew that I was still not in a safe blood sugar range.
Upping the Fat – Switching to LCHF (Low Carb High Fat)
It was after my successful experiment with a LCHF ketogenic diet that the “Reversing Diabetes” group became a LCHF group.
I “teach” the ketogenic diet for use in several Facebook groups and hundreds more are now finding the same success as I have.
These labs were taken on 4/29/2015 My A1c was 5.1.
These labs show that fat does not contribute to heart disease! My lipids are better than ever before! I eat 75% fat!
