Start Where You Live and On the Budget You Can Afford

In my video “Lard Makes You Lean” I make the point that you can do just fine, maybe even lose a 100 pounds and never touch anything organic.

I’m not going to change my message, no matter what pressure I get from the paleo-organic crowd. I’ve done the research, believe me I know that if you can find it and afford it, grass-fed, free range, organic foods are much better for you, but my mission is to sick people who don’t have the resources to change to this sort of diet.

They are sick and desperate for help and I’m going to be the one who tells them they can start getting well by going down to the stores they already shop at and getting the foods that will get their blood sugar under control, get them off psych meds, get their IBS under control, relieve their joint pain and help them lose weight.

I understand how they feel and I’m not going to let them down by preaching a message they can’t afford to follow. I myself have gotten well by shopping where I live and on the budget I had, I know it works.

So if what I teach bothers you, then let us part on a friendly basis. This is a labor of love on my part, my driving motivation is helping people like my Sheila and me, who were in a desperate situation and had no one to help us. There are many others out there like we were, they don’t have mental illness, but they are plagued with huge health problems that are killing them. The medical community offers them nothing but drugs and bad food advice. I’m here to open their eyes and offer a potential solution, Food is the best medicine and Fat is the best Food.


Most diets cause you to use “will power” to eat less, but this doesn’t work for long for most people. The LCHF (low carb/high fat) diet turns off the “out of control hunger urges” that you’ve struggled with all your life and gives you control, gives you freedom without using “will power”. This will enable to do what is called “intermittent fasting”.

Intermittent Fasting or Short-term fasting.

You need to learn about this wonderful and easy process of not eating and all the many things it can do to help you lose weight and reverse many of the health issues a high insulin level causes. The most complete source of information on intermittent fasting can be gained all in one convenient book, which I highly recommend. I’ve written a critical review of some of the parts, but I still think “Eat Stop Eat” is the best fasting book you can find at this time.     While I preach eating as organic, or even beyond organic, as you can. I agree with your practical and pragmatic approach. Afford the best food you possibly can… if what you can afford is found at Wally World or its analogues, well, start there. Then perhaps as you get better and healthier and more educated, look to your local farmer’s markets or your own efforts like gardening and small animal husbandry… but start where you can.

    I think that I love you even more, now that you wrote this post, Bob. Thank you for this. I am currently following a high-fat low carb diet created by a nutritionist. And while I fully well realize that it should mainly be organic, free range and grass fed, with three huge boys (teens and preteens) in the house, most of the food budget goes to continuously feeding them! 😉 So, I try to concentrate my efforts on “clean” proteins and fats, and then whatever else may have to just be non-organic. No more guilt, thanks to you.

    Hi Bob I am from Scotland and living in Qatar.I am following your advise. I am fasting 16 -20 hours and sticking with the LCHF principles and my weight is coming down. Fasting has become so easy for me now. This way of living is making me feel much healthier so much so I have got my hubby on to this. My IBS, my bone pains seem to be gone. I also have a lot more energy. You are easy to understand and we love your approach. I have shared your you tube videos on my Facebook. Thank you!

    Today have made up my mine to become well. I have severe pains on my feet and legs. Otherwise I am healthy…no diabetics no high blood pressure no high cholesterol but over weight. I have tried eating only fruits or eating only veggies… I lose some and then it stops.
    I decided to just try eating fats and protein. Had black coffee with 1 TBL of butter and 1 TBL of coconut oil.. (grass fed and Organic)

    No hunger since 7 am. It’s 1:30PM now…Need guidance because I want to slim down. I am 55 and weight is 248.00 and I am only 5.3 inches tall.
    Help!

    I just want to say, I came to the party late and through another meat eating group. I saw your videos a few years ago, but couldn’t believe it and didn’t follow through. It was too scary.

    Let me add, planned fasting isn’t necessary for a lot of people…except perhaps as a short term tool to understand their true hunger signals. I tried intermittent fasting and it brought down my metabolism and it’s taken several months to get it back up again. Yet, I did get a much better idea of true hunger, and to not fear it, but feed it with delicious meat.

    Just eating meat you like and can afford and drinking water will as recommended above and with time will give you the same results as fasting. Your body is very smart.
    There is no need to go hungry. Your body will naturally reduce the need to eat from 3 to 2 and for some even one meal a day….that is if you eat to full at your meals.

    Down 60 pounds from 230 at 5’2″ with 40 +/- to go. Every week I can wear more clothes that I had saved for ‘someday.’
    And my husband’s, too. When I met him he wore size 38 jeans and thought that was his natural size. Over the last 40 years he’s gone up as high as size 46. But that 38 wasn’t it, now as he is wearing size 34 jeans.

    The sooner you cut out the plants, the easier it is to get rid of carb cravings and switch your body to a fat burner with glucose on the side (provided by the body, not from eating it), but only when needed.
